As a regional account executive for Equinox Fitness Group in Washington, DC, Craig Barnard-El has overseen a 40 percent boost in new member acquisitions and a 25 percent rise in renewals. In addition, Craig Barnard-El has set up government and corporate contracts and initiated best practices to increase sales and profitability.
Mr. Barnard-El previously served Equinox as senior sales director, membership, and director of sales, membership. In these roles, he hired new reps and prepared financial reports. Previously, he held similar responsibilities with The Metropolitan, a Chicago-based fitness club, creating business partnerships across political and cultural lines.
Mr. Barnard-El entered the fitness industry as the owner and operations director for Ultimate Athletics in Wauconda, Illinois. He grew the membership base from 20 to 2,500, served by 28 teams. He also entered into agreements for B2B personal fitness and student-athlete training programs and organized annual sports camps.
Craig Barnard-El holds a bachelor's in theater from the University of Louisville and a certificate in leadership and management from the Wharton School of Business. He is a member of the National Hospitality Association and was a keynote speaker for the Golden Key International Honour Society. The society named him Humanitarian of the Year three times. In his off hours, Mr. Barnard-El travels, meditates, and listens to Beyonce and Whitney Houston.
